The Wave Therapeutic Wheelchair Cushion is our first product to utilize an innovative new combination therapy to help prevent pressure injuries, blood clots and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). By combining clinically proven therapies, Wave cushions are able to eliminate pressure “hot spots” while also promoting return blood flow to the heart and lungs.
When a patient remains seated in one position for too long tissues are compressed and deprived of blood flow. Without fresh, oxygenated blood tissues suffer injury and pressure sores can form. Wave’s unique technology allows affected tissues to properly reoxygenate and can reduce the risk of damage.
Patients with impaired mobility often have co-morbidities such as congestive heart failure, diabetes, clotting disorders, and more. These conditions adversely affect circulation and distal blood return. Wave hypothesizes that our product will improve return blood flow leading to better tissue health and making our cushions a potentially life saving solution for those at greatest risk. Clinical trials on this aspect are scheduled to begin in December, 2020.
